Level 1

Is able to interface with production partners to ensure work is production-ready, with support. Can recreate basic effects and styles efficiently.

  • Tool and File hygiene: You keep your files and folders clean and well-named. You have a basic grasp of all essential tools.

  • Understanding Processes: You've demonstrated an understanding of the processes that go into print, video or other production.

  • Attention to Detail: You've demonstrated an ability to spot mistakes in your own work across several projects, with support.

  • Communicating with Partners: You've played a supporting role in communication with printers, studios or other production partners.

Level 2

Is able to interface with production partners independently and for complex work. Handles requirements, amends and quality independently. Good attention to detail, can accurately visualise what they've imagined.

  • Understanding Processes: You've actively used your knowledge of production processes to execute, unprompted, multiple pieces of work according to best industry practices.

  • Attention to Detail: You've demonstrated an ability to spot mistakes and correct them in your own work across several projects.

  • Communicating with Partners: You've led communication with printers, studios or other production partners across a number of projects

Level 3

Is able to actively use their knowledge of production processes as a design tool, bringing novel approaches and ideas to their work with beautiful results. Excellent attention to detail, and a great relationship with partners.

  • Understanding Processes: You've actively used your knowledge of production processes to artwork multiple complex pieces of work according to best industry practices, with flawless results.

  • Attention to Detail: You've been able to quickly spot and correct errors in your own and other team members' work across multiple projects

  • Communicating with Partners: You've led communication of requirements and work with printers, studios or other production partners across a number of complex projects.

Level 4

Is bringing their knowledge and ideas around production to the wider team, actively encouraging others to try new things. Building process and guidelines to ensure the quality is high across the team. Formally suporting other team members.

  • Understanding Processes: You've used your extensive knowledge of processes and tools to advise and improve the team's artworking practices, raising quality bar across the board.

  • Attention to Detail: You've demonstrated high attention to detail across many large projects, spotting and feeding back on many team members' work as well as having an impeccable finish to your own. You've coached others on improving their process to reduce errors.

  • Communicating with Partners: You've helped others in your team repeatedly to better communicate with their production partners, as well as managing complex production relationships yourself across the team's output.

Level 5

Is reinventing techniques around production to bring novel inventions to market. Deep understanding of constraints of paper and pixels and possibilities of different process result in the team's work being regularly featured and celebrated across industry. Pushes partners and team members to create their best work.

  • Understanding Processes: You're pushing the boundaries of modern techniques and tools, squeezing every drop out of those processes with astounding results. You're actively promoting those practices outside the company.

  • Attention to Detail: You're regularly upskilling the team on how to avoid errors, publishing or otherwise sharing your knowledge beyond the bounds of the business. You've changed company design process for the better.

  • Communicating with Partners: You've improved the team's communication with production partners for good through introducing tools and processess. You regularly sharethat knowledge beyond the team.
